Monarch get wifi internet

Monarch will be equipping their flights with wifi internet. The British airline Mondarch Airways will be fitting all of their fleet with airplanes with internet access by the summer of 2012. As cheap flights to Lanzarote become more and more competitive Monarch feel that this extra service could give them the edge.
Every month the known budget ticket airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet and Jet2 bring more and more cheap routes to Lanzarote and the Canaries.
Monarch want to enter the budget ticket section of the market, last week announcing they will be waving debit card charges for all bookings.
Installing wifi on each plane will be a costly process. The fitting of internet to each plane will take around one week. The system will work by base units on each flight communicating directly with orbiting satellites.
The in flight internet system is seen as a great opportunity for businesses at destination. For example Car Hire companies at the airport will get a first chance to allow customers en route to reserve cars.
